Auxiliary Board

Who We Are

Auxiliary Board members are young professionals in Chicago who are looking to meet new people while making a difference in their community. They have shared ideas about ways to fund raise and have connections with corporations or foundations that would be interested in supporting Volunteers of America of Illinois. Auxiliary Board members are also very passionate about the work that Volunteers of America of Illinois does and are committed to advancing the mission.

While each member is involved with mission of VOA of IL, the Auxiliary Board is broken into four committees. Currently, the committees are: Marketing, Social, Fundraising, and Community Engagement. Auxiliary Board members are required to attend meetings, volunteer within the organization, and make a pledge of a minimum of $100.

Meet the Auxiliary Board Executive Members

  • Nik Ellickson

    Auxiliary Board Co-Chair

    Nik Ellickson is a Territory Sales Manager covering the State of Illinois for Illinois Tool Works (ITW). Prior to working with ITW, Nik was an associate with KPMG in Audit and an Analyst for Keating Capital both based in Denver, Colorado. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Denver with a degree in Accounting. Nik grew up playing hockey and enjoys outdoor activities.

  • Tommy Miller

    Auxiliary Board Co-Chair

    Tommy was born and raised just north of Chicago in Winnetka, IL. He attended The North Shore Country Day School followed by the University of Denver where he received both his BSBA in finance and his MBA with a concentration in finance. Out of school he worked at William Blair, in their Investment Banking Group specializing in Industrials M&A advisory. Tommy currently lives in the Gold Coast of Chicago.

  • Maggie Radelet

    Maggie Radelet is a Communications Manager at ConAgra. Boston College graduate, Springsteen fan and Chicago resident. Passionate about empowering the undeserved.

  • Luis Zepeda

    Auxiliary Board Member

    After attending Boston College, Luis Zepeda, returned to Chicago to pursue his passion in politics and worked on various high profiled campaigns. Mr. Zepeda was appointed as the youngest ward superintendent in the City of Chicago and currently remains in that position, serving the residents of the 2nd ward (where the main office of Volunteers of America of Illinois is located). His father served in the Vietnam War, which has provided him with a unique perspective of what many of our Veterans undergo after they have served.

  • Kaleb Hupp, Veteran

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Kaleb is an Associate Consultant at ZS Associates, a global management consultancy. Prior to joining ZS, Kaleb served 5 years as an Infantry Officer in the Army and was stationed at both Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He recently left the service as a Captain after completing two combat tours in Afghanistan. Kaleb holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa, enjoys Hawkeye football, and is an avid outdoors-man.

  • Jon Schultz

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Jon is an integrated strategist for Havas Worldwide, an advertising agency in downtown Chicago, where he plans campaigns and creative executions for brands. He went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for bachelor's degree in advertising. Outside of work, Jon travels the country with a film camera, plays basketball, and volunteers in the city.

  • Edward Frindt

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Ed is the Director of Finance at OCA Ventures and brings over twelve years of experience in the middle-market private equity and alternative investment space. Ed is responsible for researching and analyzing investment valuations, conducting financial due diligence and assisting OCA’s portfolio companies as they navigate financial processes. Prior to joining OCA, Ed held progressive roles with Chicago Growth Partners, a firm specializing in middle-market buyouts in the technology, education and healthcare sectors, helping build the firm’s finance and accounting function following its spin-out from William Blair & Company. As Vice President of Finance, he oversaw financial operations for its $1.2 billion group of funds, managed investor reporting and designed the firm’s internal portfolio-company valuation process. Ed began his career in Ernst & Young’s PE and hedge fund advisory practice, and obtained his Series 7 and 63 licenses as a financial planning intern at Wachovia. Ed holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Economics, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management, and received his BA in Accounting & Finance with High Honors from Loyola University Chicago.

  • Tara Anderson

    Auxiliary Board Member

    As a National Account Executive at CareerBuilder, Tara Anderson helps large organizations navigate the ever-changing recruitment landscape. Passionate about helping employers find talent, she serves as an advisor and strategic business partner to Human Resource Management teams nationwide. Anderson’s areas of expertise include candidate behavior alignment, talent market data and analytics, and best-in-class technology solutions for all pre-hire functions. When not on-site consulting with companies, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons or binging on a good television series.

  • Charlie Eisner

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Charlie is an Arizona Wildcat and Louisville Cardinal who joined up with the Chicago Fire Soccer Club in August of 2015 with the goal of expanding the world’s sport in Chicago. He loves all that Volunteers of America stands for, particularly as it relates to foster children.

  • Stefano Faiella

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Stefano Faiella grew up in Canton, Ohio but now lives in Chicago. Stefano is currently a Territory Sales Manager covering the State of Illinois for Illinois Tool Works’ (ITW) Food Equipment Group. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Business Administration specializing in Marketing. For three of his years in college, Stefano was a part of Ohio State’s Relay for Life club raising money for the fight against cancer.

  • Frank Rodgers

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Frank Rodgers is a Senior Project manager with BMO Financial Group. He has been with BMO for over 12 years, currently overseeing a number of projects within the bank both in the U.S. and abroad. Frank attended Northern Illinois university for his undergraduate degree and recently went obtained his Master’s degree from DePaul University. Frank has taken part in a number of service projects over the years and looks forward to lending a hand within VOA.

  • Doug McGinnis, Veteran

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Doug has spent the last nine years as an infantry Captain in the United States Army and is currently serving in the Illinois National Guard. Doug has completed a total of four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan where his experiences range from stimulating economic growth in Iraq cities though small business to developing police training programs for Afghan Police forces. He is passionate about bringing stability and growth to communities though his experiences in developing and implementing comprehensive solutions.

  • Lant Fogarty, Veteran

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Lant is an Associate Project Manager at Jones Lang LaSalle and currently works on JLL’s JPMC account. He graduated from West Point in 2010 and served 6 years in the Army as an Artillery Officer. He is originally from Kansas City, KS, but after the Army he moved to Chicago where his wife was already settled. He is excited to continue his service to the community through VOA Illinois.

  • Brian Flynn

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Brian is an Investment Banking Associate at William Blair focusing on M&A advisory within the Industrial industry. Prior to joining William Blair, Brian worked within the Audit practice at Deloitte specializing in financial portfolio accounting. Brian graduated from Illinois State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance. Outside of the office, Brian enjoys traveling and following F.C. Barcelona.

  • Erica Ruggieri

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Erica is an attorney at Riemer & Braunstein LLP in the firm's banking and finance group, where she represents various financial institutions in both single-lender and multi-lender commercial real estate financing transactions. Erica earned her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her B.A. from Fairfield University. She is an avid New England sports fan and enjoys spending her free time exploring new restaurants in Chicago and improving her golf game

  • Jack Barry

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Jack, a native Chicagoan, is an archaeologist by trade with a B.A. from the University of Oregon and an M.A. from Trent University in Ontario, Canada. Having recently returned to Chicago Jack now works in finance as an investment strategist at Keeco, Inc. and serves as Treasurer and Secretary for the McKee Family Foundation. Outside of the office Jack has played hockey for over 20 years and currently volunteers as a coach in the Chicago Jets youth hockey program.

  • Sara Tumen

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Sara joined private equity firm Sterling Partners in 2010 and is the Director of Communications. Prior to her current role, she held investor relations and marketing positions at the firm. Before Sterling, Sara worked for former Secretary Salazar at the United States Department of the Interior in Washington DC, and was a member of the Department of the Interior Agency Review on the 2008 Presidential Transition Team. Born and raised in Glencoe, IL, Sara graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 and has hated Ohio State ever since. In her free time, Sara can be found reading, writing, boxing, drinking too much coffee and trying (very hard) to improve her (non-existent) cooking skills.

  • Lauren Raouf

    Lauren is a Project Manager with the Boston Consulting Group and an independent consultant focusing on retail and consumer goods. Graduate of Harvard (BA) and Wharton (MBA). Can be found playing in a rec league, rooting for her hometown Orioles, or anywhere country music is played.

  • Christy Ward

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Christy is a Senior Associate and Fund Analyst on the portfolio management team, primarily focused on quarterly portfolio valuation and strategic fund analysis. Christy joined Green Courte in 2017. Prior to joining Green Courte, Christy was an Analyst within the Portfolio Reporting Group at Sterling Partners. At Sterling, she was primarily responsible for quarterly valuations, portfolio performance monitoring and related special projects. Prior to her move to Chicago, Christy was a Fund Accountant in Sterling's Baltimore office and an auditor at RSM, specializing in financial services. Christy is originally from Midlothian, VA and grew up playing soccer and running track. She attended James Madison University where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and was a member of the JMU Women's Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Christy also received a Master of Accountancy from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a CPA.

  • Charlie Dao

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Charlie Dao is currently a New Sector Alliance Resident in Social Enterprise (RISE) Fellow at the Chicago Mayor’s Office of Veterans’ Affairs where he is assisting the City expand its resources, connections, and services to Chicagoland veterans and their families. Charlie graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Geology – Earth and Environmental Sciences and a minor in chemistry in 2016. With experience working with students with disabilities, serving AmeriCorps at Easter Seals Wisconsin, and managing a Multiple Sclerosis research project within the last four years, he is particularly passionate about social determinants on health care and health equity. One of Charlie’s brothers has served the Marine Corps and the other brother is currently serving the Air Force—both are younger.

  • Stephanie Sauer

    Auxiliary Board Member

    Stephanie Sauer is a Chicago native and proud White Sox fan. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014 where she earned a BA in International Studies, Environmental Studies, and East Asian Studies. Having a strong passion for the public sector, her past experiences include working with small nonprofits involved with education, sustainability, and community outreach. She currently works as the Development and Operations Coordinator for Moneythink, a nonprofit organization that provides financial education to underserved, college-bound youth nationwide, and previously served as a New Sector Alliance RISE Fellow. Outside of work Stephanie enjoys tossing a disc with her Ultimate Frisbee team, cheering on the Badgers, and winning bar trivia with her friends.

  • Vergis Eiland

    Auxiliary Board Member

    As a dedicated real estate professional, Vergis' business operation and back office infrastucture is predicated on delivering "Disneyland-type" customer service to his clients and the public. Vergis grew up in the South Shore community and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
