Many of our nation's Veterans are struggling:

  • 1 in 3 homeless men is a Veteran
  • More than 1 in 5 soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are suffering from major depression and/or PTSD
  • Female Veterans are almost 4x more likely to be homeless than non-Veteran females
  • Unemployment for soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is 3x the national average
  • 30% of the troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are showing at least some degree of Traumatic Brain Injury – the signature wound of the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan
  • More Vietnam-era Veterans have died from suicide than the 55,000 who were killed during the war
