#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. This year, you can host your OWN fundraiser supporting VOA Illinois. Click below to get started.
Be the light for someone in need.
Make a lasting impact by raising funds to support vital work like our youth services programming at North Lawndale College Prep. VOA Illinois has partnered with North Lawndale College Prep to provide therapy, counseling, and violence prevention services. The North Lawndale community has been heavily affected by gun violence, and our team is on the ground every day, ensuring the students have a safe place to learn, share, and receive guidance through difficult times. Student Jeffrey reflects on his time spent with VOA Illinois youth counselor, “She made sacrifices to make sure I had at least something to take my mind off of whatever was bothering me. If anyone can take time out for me, it means something.”
Provide warmth and safety to families like those in our Rapid Rehousing program. These families come to us unhoused, and struggling to see their future. Your support will ensure they have a safe, warm home for the holidays. One of our clients, a single mother of five says, “This program has helped me a lot. I was in my apartment in less than 40 days. My service coordinator is awesome and brings me things we need; she is very supportive and very good at communicating. I can write a book about her”
By joining our Giving Tuesday fundraiser, you will support Veterans like Mr. Davis. Mr. Davis is a Veteran who came to Hope Manor I this year, seeking help in recovering from a serious substance use disorder, and homelessness. Mr. Davis’ counselor reflects on her time working with him since receiving services from VOA Illinois, “Whenever I witness a dramatic reduction in drug use by a person, I reflect on how conquering an addiction is one of the hardest things a person can do. Mr. Davis’ journey was not an easy one but he was determined to succeed. He has been permanently housed and has a fresh start on a life free on substance use.”
