BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Our programs are very diverse from one community to the next and so are our volunteer opportunities. One example of where volunteers are working are in our housing facilities for disabled, the elderly, and families providing activities, meals, parties and other services. Volunteer groups from businesses, faith communities, schools and other groups work throughout our programs as well as individual volunteers. Some of our volunteers prefer short-term projects while others work weekly or monthly helping others.

For specific volunteer opportunities, see below.

BECOME AN ADVOCATE

There is another way to "get involved" — through advocacy on behalf of the people who are served in our foster care program. The best way to influence federal, state, or local policy is to contact legislators and other government officials. Volunteers of America of Illinois can help you reach your elected officials, to ask for their support of laws and policies that will help us provide housing, foster care and human services for people who cannot afford to provide those things for themselves.
